The new Mercedes-Benz A-Class was one of 2018’s most anticipated models and now that it has officially arrived on the market, consumers can see that the product was worth the wait. Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show back in 2018, the A-Class is a new generation of a long-offered model in Europe, but it is the first time the A-Class nameplate has been offered in Canada.
Offered in two versions including a versatile hatchback and a spacious sedan, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class replaces the B-Class as Mercedes-Benz’ entry-level model. That said, there’s nothing entry-level about the new A-Class and you’ll notice that the second you step inside.
The first thing you will notice is how the A-Class’ interior takes the same design as many more luxurious Mercedes-Benz vehicles including the new GLE as well as the redesigned E-Class and S-Class. The Mercedes-Benz A-Class 2019 offers a host of advanced technologies, but the most impressive is without a doubt the MBUX system. This is a new, advanced infotainment system that offers among a host of features artificial intelligence functions to adapt to the driver. Moreover, it offers a particularly advanced voice command system that allows for "normal" conversations with the car.
Under the hood of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatchback is a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that develops 221 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Capable of reaching 100 km/h in about 6.0 seconds, it also has an average fuel consumption of about 7.0 litres per 100 kilometres. In other words, you get both performance and fuel economy in the new A-Class.
The A-Class sedan has the same 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, but it develops 188 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque that still makes it fast and efficient. This engine is a better pairing to the sedan and what its future owners are looking for.
